In two decades, the Tata Group’s public offering of Tata Capital is expected to be a watershed moment for the group. In what is expected to become India’s largest IPO, this event is expected to raise substantial amounts of capital.
In September 2025, Tata Capital, the financial services division of the Tata Group, plans to be ready. After Tata Motor Finance’s merger with the company is completed early in next year, the filing process will begin.
Tata Capital IPO Date
By September 2025, Tata Capital, a financial services subsidiary of the Tata Group, will go public through an Initial Public Offering (IPO). After Tata Technologies’ successful IPO in 2023, this will be the second major public offering by the Tata Group in two decades.
In India’s history, the Tata Capital IPO has the potential to raise billions of dollars and be one of the biggest IPOs ever. Early next year, after the ongoing merger with Tata Motor Finance is finalized, the IPO process will begin.
Tata Capital IPO Valuation
The Tata company’s unlisted shares have increased significantly from Rs 450 in December last year to Rs 1,100 in April. The unlisted shares of Tata Capital are currently trading around Rs 900. Based on the 3.74 billion outstanding shares by the end of FY24, the unlisted market values the company at approximately Rs 3.5 lakh crore.
The Reserve Bank of India approved the merger of two upper-layer NBFCs in October, resulting in a single Tata Group NBFC listing. The company will be owned by Tata Sons (88.49%) and Tata Group companies, including Tata Motors (7.72%).
As a result of its merger with Tata Finance, Tata Capital will have an equity capital of Rs 3880.7 crore, consisting of 388.07 crore shares with a face value of Rs 10. At the time of the merger between Tata Capital and Tata Motors, Tata Capital was valued at Rs 248.6 per share, putting its post-merger value at Rs 96,475 crore. At the end of the merger, the proforma book value of the NBFC was Rs 31,603 crore.
